Gadino Cellars, a favorite winery and is a relaxing place to visit and both the wine drinker and designated driver find things to do.

Outside there is a partially covered deck that wraps around the building. The deck has great views of the vineyards and the distant hills. It is here you will sometimes find live musical entertainment. There is also a regulation bocce court open to all.

Inside you will find a moderate length wine tasting bar. You can view the wine processing area through large windows. On the opposite from the tasting area is a play area for young children and a fireplace with comfortable chairs where the designated driver can retreat to for winter reading.

The wines are tasty and Donna consistently enjoys the Petit Verdot. The Sunset is a good summer wine and as the name suggests, it will pair nicely with a good sunset.

The designated driver will find some non-alcoholic beverages, and foods to complement them. (OK, probably meant for the wine drinkers.) They offer a cheese and a cheese & sausage tray.

Wines are available by the glass (to enjoy on the deck, with a cheese tray or both). Buying in volume will earn you a 5% discount on 6-11 bottles and 10% off 12 or more. If you are a wine club member, your discount is 10% on 1-11 bottles and 20% off 12 or more.

Getting there from the D.C. area is an enjoyable drive through the country (once you have left I-66). Watch your speed as the state police regularly patrol the tempting long stretches of road.

Google maps will deliver you to a point near the Rappahannock Elementary School. Just keep driving (and following the signs). When the paved road ends, you will turn left onto a gravel road, then right. The road becomes paved again just before you arrive at the parking lot.
